The Emerald Paradise team

Behind the camera

The team

A small group of filmmakers, pilots and photographers who together made Emerald Paradise possible.

Laurens

The path finder

My passion for the wilderness of the Soča Valley and the elegant art of fly-fishing began 20 years ago when I was twelve. Motivated by an article in a fishing magazine, I begged my mother to take me to Slovenia — I immediately fell in love with the raw nature of Triglav National Park and the crystal clear waters of the Soča and its tributaries. A few years ago I moved here for good.

Gregor

The pilot

The Soča Valley is my home. My father was a dedicated fly-fisherman, so I cast a fly rod before I was a teenager — it's almost a tradition here. Over the years I explored kayaking, mountain biking and paragliding. Motivated by friends from Austria and the Netherlands, I picked up the fly rod again and spent years learning drone cinematography. I also handle language and local communication.

Vanja

The enthusiast

I'm from the Soča Valley and studied photography in Ljubljana. Various student jobs made it clear I wanted to expand into videography. Back home I heard about Emerald Paradise and wanted to be part of it. Being out there in nature made me realize how beautiful my home region really is — from color correction to creative camera movement, I get to do everything I love.

Žiga

The tech pro

Photography and videography grew on me in high school when mountain biking with a GoPro was a very big deal. I still study graphics and interactive communication, and worked as a camera specialist for Sony — which gave me a deep understanding of the technical side. Emerald Paradise lets me stay in the valley and continue my quest to become a professional filmmaker.

Klemen

The multi talent

My perception of photography was shaped by the Soča Valley itself. Even as a child I borrowed my father's old camera to show everyone the beauty I saw. Seeing life in pictures makes special moments even more special. Studying administrative information systems and working for Apple gave me a strong technical foundation, and this project has turned my hobbies into a profession.

Daniel

The yogi

I started my photographic journey in 2004 with my first DSLR. Loving nature, my first pictures were forests, landscapes and animals — then I immersed myself in macrophotography. Yoga brought me to Slovenia in 2016 and I fell in love with the Soča the first time I saw it. In 2019 I finally made the move and joined Laurens' team.
